The result proved a bad day for Manchester united manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who spent more than £130M on new signings Daniel James, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson hailed his team for the heroic victory.

‘’It was hard work and the players showed incredible concentration on the tactics we were trying to employ. We kept Manchester United in front of us for very long periods. It was a long, hot afternoon and we had to accept that our talented opponents would have more of the ball than us. We had to make certain that they did not play the passess to get the balls into the areas where they would punish us too severely. It was a heroic victory.’’ Said Hodgson.

Former Chelsea player Gary Cahill was voted as the man of the match. Cahill was playing at Old Trafford with a fourth different Club. He has previously played for Bolton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Chelsea.
