Salman Rushdie who is an author was stabbed on the stage New York, United Stated, before his speech on the literary fair.
According to reports, Rushdie had been issued a kill order by Iran leader 33 years ago.
Rushdie’s book, Satanic verses, insulted Prophet Mohammed and The Koran. The book also led to culture war in Britain in 1988 including book burning.
The same protests and riots were reported in Muslim world leading to death of 60 people.

The book, satanic Verses, was banned in Pakistan and Rushdie was issued a death sentence by Iran leader, Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989. The leader called for the killing of Rushdie along with fellow publishers.
An award of $3million was put on his head. Rushdie amid the hunt, was protected by the British government from 1989 to2002.
In the hiding, he used to receive sort of Valentine’s card as a reminder that his killing is still valid.
He has been living in the US since 2000 until recently when he started complaining of too much security. On Friday when he was stabbed, there was minimum security.
Rushdie is under technical care and his condition is improving significantly.
