Hadi Matar, 24, was accused for alleged attempted murder of Salman Rushdie on Friday.

Rushdie was airlifted to hospital where he underwent surgery. Also an author, is currently showing signs of improvement.

Matar was arraigned in court where he pleaded not guilty of the attempted murder of author Salman Rushdie. Prosecutors claimed that Rushdie had been stabbed up to 10 times.

Rushdie’s agent, Andrew Wylie, said the author was on a ventilator due to stabbing injuries he had sustained and was in danger one eye going blind. Rushdie also was not able to talk.

But he updated New York Times that the condition of Rushdie is improving and is able to talk again.
