EGYPTIAN ADULTS ARE THE MOST OBESE GLOBALLY

Egyptian Adults are the most obese in the world, the most recent study published recently has revealed that there are 2 billion obese people around the world. This includes both children and adults. It further reported that the deaths associated with obesity is increasing.

This medical study was published in New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers expressed concerns that is a worrying public health challenge around the world.

On Egypt, it reported that 19 million residents are obese. This is 35 percent of all adults in the country! It’s alarming because this is the highest rate globally.

According to the study, at least 3.6 million children in Egypt also suffer from obesity. This is 10.2 percent of all Egyptian children.

According to Professor Ali Mokdad, one of the co-authors indicated that “one out of three Egyptians suffer from obesity.” This will lead to heart diseases, diabetes and various types of cancer.

The study was conducted in 195 countries between 1980 and 2015. It’s publication was planned to coincide with EAT Stockholm Food Forum. This forum aims at discovering sustainable and safe diets for mankind.

The United States topped the world in terms of the number of obese children and youth at 13% of the population of that group. Egypt topped the list on percentage of adults suffering with obesity at 35 percent.

Vietnam and Bangladesh people were the least obese according to the study findings both standing at 1 percent.

Currently, there are 15.3 million obese children in China followed closely by 14.4 million obese children in India.
