MAKERERE UNIVERSITY: IN SEARCH FOR A NEW VICE CHANCELLOR
Makerere University is in search of the next VC. The search committee has started the process towards recruiting the next VC. The race has attracted three professors who addressed a large audience on 15th June, 2017.
The three prospective candidates for the post have been selected. These are:
- Professor Baryamureeba
Prof. Baryamureeba has promised that he will create Makerere University Customer Charter, provider reflesher courses for all staff, allocate 10 percent of University budget towards infrastructure and innovation and implement staff housing scheme.
- Professor Edward Kirumira
Professor Edward Kimumira is a professor of Sociology who has previously served as the Principal College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Makerere. Before that he had served as a Dean and head of department of Sociology at the same university.
The professor if selected as VC, plans to introduce a scheme where students work for the university to earn money to cover for their tuition.
3. Professor Barnabas Nawangwe
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe plans to built a University Hospital once selected as VC. He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at Makerere. He studied Arcitecture at Kiev Institute of Business and Technology.
