Chelsea have aborted their mission of signing Wesley Fofana from Leicester City. This comes after Leicester rejected Chelsea’s offer of £70million plus £10million add-ons. Leicester now price Fofana at £85million.
Tuchel, Chelsea boss, considered his options and found Fofana too expensive. The defender did not feature almost half of matches last season due to leg injury.
Brendan Rodger, Leicester boss, benched Fofana in their game against Southampton in a move to show Chelsea they are set to let him leave the club.
On the other hand, Leicester City are known for their tough negotiations after bagging £85million for Harry Maguire to Manchester United in 2019.
Leicester also led Newcastle United’s retreat from signing James Maddison because of their high prices. They placed a price tag of £65million for the star.
Tielemans on the other hand is remaining with one year left in his contract and Leicester have already placed him on the market. He is priced at £50million.
Tielemans’s demand of up to £200,000 wages per week has repelled bidders.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is on the run to sign Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong from La Liga giants, Barcelona. Tuchel is willing to spend all he got to strengthen his squad following 3-0 loss to Leeds united over the last weekend.
