Sharing is Caring

The Kenya Bureau of standards (KEBS) has suspended the permits of 8 hand sanitizer brands for not meeting the laid down conditions.

KEBS issued a statement on Sunday, saying it had withdrawn permits for the following:

  • G&L (Orange Pharma)
  • Alphax (Kings Palace)
  • Spotless advanced (Havana East Africa Trading)
  • Clean Essentials (Virtuelle Products Ltd)
  • Gentle Care (Bidco Africa)
  • Msiri (Mafleva International Ltd)
  • Shi Shi Natural
  • Lili (Kenbrands International Company)

KEBS also directed the affected manufacturers to stop selling and recall all their products from the market.

The suspension of the permits will be lifted if KEBS confirms that effective and correct actions are instituted by the manufacturers.

‘’KEBS shall continue to undertake market surveillance and factory inspections. Substandard products found will be seized for destruction at the expense of the owner in addition to any other legal action as provided under the law,’’ read the agency’s statement.

KEBS also encouraged the public to be on the watch for products that don’t meet standards through the ‘Wajibika na KEBS’ program.
