Democratic Republic of Congo is going into polls tomorrow.

 

Three regions with a population of 1.5 million people will not participate in the Congo Presidential elections as a result of ebola disease.

President Joseph Kabira will not be on the ballot tomorrow due to Constitutional constraints. There are three main candidates for the top political seat in the country, presidency.

 

Joseph Kabira has served as President since 2001 after the assassination of his father Laurent Kabira.

 

The elections has been post phoned for the last two years because the electoral commission had asked to be given more time to register voters.

 

 

Congo gained her independence from Belgium in 1960.

 

 

The elections was to be held last week but fire consumed voting materials and hence another delay for seven days.

 

 

Mr. Martin Fayulu is the leading opposition candidate and a former oil magnet.

 

Felix Tshisekedi, son of a former opposition leader for many years, is also on the ballot.

 

 

Meanwhile Joseph Kabira’s has been infamous for human Rights abuses and plenty of corruption.
