People who are at high risk of infections should protect their eyes. This is in addition to wearing face masks and practice social distancing.

Experts have revealed that elderly people and those who have any underlying medical conditions should start wearing eye shields just like the frontline workers.

Experts have also pointed out that people in areas with moderate community transmission should protect their eyes.

Research reveals that Coronavirus can be transmitted through the mouth, nose and eyes through direct exposure to droplets from coughing, yelling or sneezing.

An extensive study by The Lancet reveals that wearing eye protection makes you three times less likely to be infected by Covid-19. The Lancet now knows that that glasses, eye shields and googles are associated with lower rates of infection with Covid-19.

According to Dr. Vincente Diaz, a specialist in ocular immunology, it is a good idea for you to wear an eye shield as you go about your day-to-day business especially in high risk situations.
