Sharing is Caring

Senator elect in Bungoma Moses Wetangula has been nominated as the National Assembly speaker by Kenya Kwanza.

The appointment was done on Saturday when United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Kenya Kwanza coalitions signed the post-election agreement.

UDA won the presidential seat in the 2022 General Election with William Ruto as the flag bearer. Ruto garnered 50.49% of the total votes cast. He was declared the president elect and Rigathi Gachagua as his Deputy President elect.

The meeting was attended by all Kenya Kwanza allies. Musalia Mudavadi was among them and he announced Wetangula’s nomination was the agreement made by all Kenya Kwanza members.

“We have unanimously agreed to nominate Ford Kenya Leader Moses Masika Wetangula for the position of the speaker in the national assembly,” Mudavadi said.

Following the appointment, Wetangula will be force to resign from the Senate position. He had earlier agreed that he is more than ready to resign.

“I am going to be the third in command of the country. I pray to God that he gives me the wisdom to lead the National Assembly and coordinate well with the Senate. We will bring good laws to this country, advocate for pro-people budgets and ensure that Kenya will never be the same again,” Wetangula stated.

The leaders are hoping the plans will go as planned and there will be no disruption from the petition that the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga is planning to file in court.

Raila has urged his supporters to remain calm as he tries to make things right. Martha Karua, Raila Odinga’s running mate, claimed that victory is soon coming home.
