The Tennis Integrity Unit has banned Youssef Hossam for life after finding him guilty of corruption and match-fixing offences.

Hossam committed 21 breaches of anti-corruption rules between 2015 and 2019 according to TIU.

The 21-year-old is said to have conspired with others to carry out betting related corruption at the lower levels of the sport.

In December 2017, Hossam reached career-high singles ranking of 291. He is currently ranked 820.

In May last year, Hossam was found to have committed 8 cases of match fixing, 6 cases of gambling and 2 cases of soliciting players not to do their best. He was provisionally suspended from participating in tennis related activities.

TIU said in a statement:’’As a result of his conviction, Mr. Hossam is now permanently excluded from competing in or attending any sanctioned tennis event organized or recognised by the governing bodies of the sport. ‘’

His elder brother, Karim Hossam was also forbidden from the sport and fined $15,000 for multiple match-fixing offences in 2018.
