Sharing is Caring

Colombo, Sri Lanka

Protesters in Sri Lanka occupied the homes of Gotabaya Raja Paksa (President) and Ranil Wickremesinghe (Prime Minister) residences.

The protesters are demanding for immediate departure of the two men from office.

The main reason for the protests is that they have mismanaged Sri Lanka’s economy.

Some of the protesters were seen swimming at the garden pool, working out at the gym, dinning in the kitchen, relaxing in the bedroom and watching TV. They made themselves at home.

The problem started when Sri Lanka failed to raise enough foreign currency to import essential goods such as fuel and food.

Sri Lanka has default on its huge foreign debt of $51 billion and is not able to pay interest on loans.

People in Sri Lanka have been struggling to make ends meet due to inflation. They have been experiencing 12-hour power cuts as well as fuel shortage.

As the citizens of Sri Lanka languish in poverty, the country’s leaders live in luxury as seen from the photos of the citizen occupation of the leaders’ official residences.

The president is reported to be holed up in a navy ship off the coast of Sri Lanka. When he tried to escape the country, he had a standoff with the airport officials. He is try to escape to avoid being detained if new leaders take over leadership.

According to Sri Lanka’s Constitution, if the PM and President leave office, the Speaker will be the temporary president.
