Senegal has elected Bassirou Diomaye Faye as their 5th President. He is becomes the 44th president of the west African county.
There were 19 candidates in the race for presidency. His main rival was former Prime Minister Amadou Ba.
At least 7.3 million people were registered to vote in a country with a population of 18 million people.
State TV RTS reported a 71 percent voter turnout in the recently concluded election.
