Real Madrid have agreed to sell defender Javi Sanchez to Real Valladolid.

The 23-year-old was loaned out to Valladolid in July but he has struggled throughout the campaign with injuries.

He played his first La Liga game of the season on Saturday when he came off the bench against Leganes.

The club has not disclosed his transfer fee.

It is understood Valladolid wanted to keep Sanchez as defender Mohammed Salisu could leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Sanchez came through the Real Madrid academy having joined the club when he was 8.

Last season he made appearances in the La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey for Los Blancos.

Valencia were rumoured to have registered interest in signing Sanchez in February.

He has signed a deal to stay at Valladolid until June 2024 and will have a chance to play in the Primera division in seasons to come.
