Following the questions that were raised by representatives, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chair Wafula Chebukati, has clarified that only form 34A will be used in transmission of Presidential election results.

The commission will also publish a question and answer regarding to the questions raised by the representatives.

“The commission printed two booklets [of form 34A]. The reason given was that it [a booklet] cannot have more than six clear carbon copies. We will only use one booklet for purposes of transmitting presidential results,” Chebukati said.

“The second booklet will be sealed and will be kept in the ballot box and sealed with the ballots after polling. The second booklet will not be used.” He added.

He also clarified that the original six copies of form 34A will be availed at the national tallying center. Four copies of the forms will be given to the four Presidential candidates and one place inside the ballot box.

It will be the roll of the returning officer to make a copy of the form and paste it on the on the wall visible to voters.

On the other hand, the form 34B will be handled at the constituency level. The IEBC chair said that he will be giving regular updates concerning the upcoming elections.
