Sharing is Caring

Boko Haram has been reported to strike in the Nigerian capital killing more than 6 troops. This comes after they showed up about a week ago killing eight soldiers.

It seems like they had a concrete plan because they attacked the military checkpoint that is situated seven kilometers from the Nigerian capital. Reports claim there has been a series of attacks that had been recorded earlier.

The soldiers were returning from an operation when they were attacked unaware by the terrorists.

Earlier in July 5th, the terrorists also attacked Kuje prisons freeing not less than 950 inmates. After the killings in the capital, the terrorists headed towards the Kaduna axis.

The latest attack on Thursday, described as retaliation for the killings of 30 of their gang members during the week, occurred at 7:00 pm.

“The terrorists took control of the area for about 30 minutes and kept on shooting before heading towards the Kaduna axis of the expressway,” a military source outlined.

It is believed that the terrorists are taking revenge for the killings of their fellow 30 terrorists.

“Troops successfully cleared Kawu and Ido villages. Consequently, about 30 terrorists were neutralized and their enclave and hideout destroyed.” The military spokesperson Bernard Onyauko said

Bernard also added that two AK-47 rifles, loaded LMG magazine and six motorcycles were recovered.

The president advisor said that the president was aware of the situation of insecurity in the country.

“It’s not something that should be confined to only the security, intelligence and law enforcement agencies, when we keep saying it is a whole of society approach, whole of government approach, a whole of nation approach, what it means is that everybody has to partake in this enterprise. The truth is that no country can ever overcome the difficulties of an asymmetric conflict by virtue of the fact that the enemy of the state is embedded within the population, within the wider society.’’ He added.

He again advised the locals to cooperate with the government by providing necessary information that will help fight the terrorists.
