Norwich City were relegated from the Premier League on Saturday after losing 4-0 at home to West Ham United.

Forward Michail Antonio scored all the four goals for David Moyes’ side at Carrow Road.

It was the 24th Premier League defeat of the season, confirming that Norwich will play in the Championship in the upcoming season.

The result left Norwich at the bottom on 21 points, 13 adrift 17th placed Watford, who beat Newcastle United 2-1. Three rounds of fixtures are remaining to finish the season.

It is the fifth time Norwich are getting relegated.

West Ham United, who sit 16th in the league table, moved 6 points clear of the relegation zone and are above Watford on goal difference.

Norwich manager Daniel Farke told Sky Sports: “It’s a disappointing day with the harsh loss but even more because today is also the day where relegation is finally confirmed. It’s not like it comes unexpectedly or not that we weren’t prepared for it, but once it is confirmed, it feels even more disappointing. For that, it’s a tough day today.

“The first step is always to look at yourself and ask what could have been done better. It’s not an unexpected outcome and the first day after promotion, I said was had between a two and five per cent chance to stay in the league without being able to spend money.”

The Norwich boss was sorry for the club’s supporters.

“I feel really sorry for our supporters and everyone who’s connected with this amazing club that we were not able to work another miracle. I’m in a responsible role so I’m disappointed that I was not able to do that… We were hoping again to beat the odds and to work on another miracle but you have to say in this year, we were not capable of doing this,” He added.

“For that, we can only apologise and I feel sorry for the supporters because they are all there with so much passion and emotion for this club and so much support, even in the bad times. They deserve all the joy and all the miracles we can bring them… so it is definitely a disappointing day.”
