Amharic was introduced as the official working language by Emperor Haile Selassie who ruled Ethiopia between 1930 and 1974. 

Now the current Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Abbey is addition four new working languages. That is Tigrigna, Afan Oromo, Somali and Afar. 

It is estimated that 34.4% of Ethiopian population speak Afan Oromo while only 1.7% speak both Somali and Tigre. Afar is only spoken by 1.7% of the population in Ethiopia.
