A section of the Nairobi-Mombasa highway around Mlolongo will remain closed for at least 9 days to allow for construction.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) issued a statement on Tuesday saying the road will remain closed between 12th and 20th November to allow a footbridge deck to be installed in Mlolongo town.

Traffic marshals and signs will help in directing motorists and other road users heading to Nairobi and Mombasa.

Mlolongo is also marked as the start point of the Multi-billion Nairobi Expressway project which will go all the way to James Gichuru junction in Westlands.

On October 16 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the Nairobi Expressway project. The project is expected to take at least three years.
