The gym which was formerly known as Mamba Sports Academy is suing the company that owned the helicopter in the Kobe Bryant crash. The gym is claiming that the copter company should be forced to pay over Ksh. 11 million in funeral expenses for one of the passengers on board.
These demands are in the new court documents in which the gym and an insurance company are suing one Island Express. The two claim that Christina Mauser, 38, who was a basketball coach for girls and an employee of the gym at the time of her death in helicopter crash they paid death benefits and burial expenses to her family valued at an excess of $127,000.
The plaintiffs further argue that Island Express is the one to pay that bill claiming that Mausers dead was due to the company’s negligence. Simply they are asking for a refund of the money already paid. In addition to that they are also demanding for any additional workers compensation payments that may become due in the near future.
Mauser is one of the 8 victims who died during the Jan 2020 helicopter crash. The others included Kobe and Gigi Bryant. The NTSB concluded after investigations that the crash happened as a result of numerous reasons including “Island Express Helicopter Inc’s inadequate review and oversight of its safety management processes.”
