Former Manchester City and Juventus striker Valeri Bonijov was red-carded before he could make his debut for Serie B club Pescara.

Bonijov joined Pescara this month as a free agent, having been without a club since leaving Bulgarian outfit Botev Vratsa.

The 34-year old was named on the bench on Sunday as Pescara played against Crotone in the Italian Serie B.

He was sent-off for dissent in the 26th minute. Pescara went on to lose the game 4-1 at fulltime.

Bonijov made 43 appearances for the Bulgaria National team. He joined Juventus on loan in 2006/2007 season after their relegation to Serie B following a match-fixing scandal.

He scored 7 times for Juventus in all competitions as Juventus earned promotion before he joined Manchester City in 2007.

Other football clubs that Bonijov has played for include: Parma, Sporting Lisbon, Verona, Vicenza, Levski Sofia, Ternana, Partizan, Meizhou Hakka, Lausanne and Rijeka FC.
