Valencia defender Ezekiel Garay is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing a successful surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Garay injured his right knee on Saturday in Valencia’s 1-0 win against Celta Vigo. He was replaced by Mouctar Diakaby.

Valancia confirmed on Monday that the 33-year-old defender is set to be sidelined for a long time.

Valencia are placed fifth in the Laliga table. They will face Granada FC in the Copa del Rey quarter finals on Tuesday.
