Sharing is Caring

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Noordin Haji, has ordered the arrest of Didmus Barasa who allegedly shot Brian Khaemba’s aide at a polling station in Bungoma.

The aide was announced dead immediately after arrival at the hospital. Barasa is reported to have left the polling station and his whereabouts are not yet known.

Khaemba is Barasa’s opponent who wants to unseat him in the coming regime.

The Bungoma County Commissioner, Samuel Kimiti, said if any citizen spots Barasa should report to police.

“We want him to surrender to police wherever he is. If any member of the public spots him, let them alert the police,” Commissioner Kimiti said.

According to Chebukati, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson, there is no law that requires the commission to withhold the results.

“I just read in the media of the incident in Kimilili but everything will continue and results will be read. That is a criminal matter and I believe the law will take its course. We will only come after conviction but I believe justice will prevail,” IEBC chair said.
