In the course of 2018 we were at Diani Airstrip in Kwale County and we witnessed the take-off of one of the planes used for skydiving. One of my colleagues vowed that as long as he is alive, he can never participate in sky diving.
Fast forward, last month a Zambian paratrooper died while skydiving in Diani when his parachute entangled with that of his fellow diver. Following that death, the Mombasa High Court ordered all skydiving activities to be suspended.
Diani Skydive has so far challenged the court order by suing Kwale County government and Interior Ministry.
