The English Football League (EFL) has confirmed ten individuals tested positive for Covid-19 in the latest round of tests.

A total of 1,058 tests were carried out on players and club staff on Thursday and Friday.

10 individuals from 8 clubs tested positive.

The Premier League announced no new positives in the latest round of tests carried out.

The English Football League’s statement read: ‘’Following the latest round of COVID-19 testing, the EFL can confirm that 1,058 players and club staff from the 24 Championship clubs were tested over the course of Thursday 28 May and Friday 29 May, with 10 individuals testing positive from eight clubs.

“Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.

“The EFL will continue to make regular and relevant announcements as appropriate in respect of the testing programme to support competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League.’’

The Championship was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s reportedly hoping to resume in June.

Leeds were on top of the Championship table, one point ahead of second-placed West Bromwich Albion.

The English Football League also said 7 individuals from 3 League 2 clubs tested positive after 135 tests were carried out.
