Sharing is Caring

Many people online are excited that St. Lukes Catholic Church in Abuja celebrated mass using African cultural items including attires.

Youth who were wearing African traditional attires followed the priests to the alter. White chalks were used to place dots on some parts of their bodies. Some ladies would be seen wearing tied wrappers around their waists and chests. Others had some beads on their legs, hands and neck while participating in the mass.

Residents of Abuja were impressed by the new way of celebrating mass the African way. It is a sign that Christianity can go hand in hand with the African culture. However, others were no amused at all and said that it is unacceptable to ‘mix’ the two.
