Sharing is Caring

A Zimbabwean woman has sued a former family friend for allegedly snatching her husband.

Marvelous Marufu has demanded to be awarded $50,000 from her friend Ratidzo Nyamuchengwa who works closely with her husband for the pain, humiliation and suffering that she suffered following her loss of her love and husband.

The court documents indicate that her husband converted her customary law union into a monogamous civil marriage on 19 March 2018. Marufu further revealed that the defendant bought her a wedding gift after the conversion/upgrade.

Marufu discovered her husband’s unfaithfulness when she eavesdropped on his phone conversation with Nyamuchengwa, professing love for her.

She stated that:

“Defendant (Nyamuchengwa) even purchased a wedding gift for the plaintiff (Marufu). This notwithstanding defendant enticed and alienated plaintiff’s spouse’s affection from plaintiff and harboured him in adulterous relationship.

“At all material times the defendant was aware of the marital status of plaintiff’s husband and moreover she would visit plaintiff’s home, sometimes in the company of her husband Terrence Mawire, such that they eventually became family friends.”

Ms. Marufu stated that as a result of the adultery of Nyamuchengwa with her husband, she has lost affection, love, and companionship of her husband who moved out of their matrimonial home on 26 December 2020. She claims that her husband Mhondoro is now cohabitating with Nyamuchengwa, who has also left her husband Mawire.

She added;

“In the premises, plaintiff has suffered damages as follows: loss of consortium, comfort, companionship of her spouse in the sum of US$30,000 and contumelia in the sum of US$20,000.”
