Burundi has ordered a World Health Organisation official to leave the country alongside three other health experts.

An unsigned letter from the ministry of foreign affairs in Burundi declares Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo and three others as ‘’unwelcomed’ ’and gives them 48 hours to leave the country.

The others are Dr Jean Pierre Murunda, Prof Tarzy Daniel and Dr Ruhana Mirindi Bisimwa.

Burundi foreign affairs minister Ezechiel Nibigira did not deny or confirm the letter in a phone interview, but a source at the ministry confirmed its authenticity to BBC.

The ministry did not however give reasons for the expulsion of the officials.
