It’s Unfair for Girls to Walk 36 KM To and From School Daily

I was surprised to learn that some girls attending Ngaremara Secondary School in Isiolo County travel a total of 36 kilometers every day to access education.

It’s even more shocking that as they walk to school they encounter wild animals such as elephants, lions, leopards and other dangerous wild animals from the near by Buffalo Springs National Reserve.

The Isiolo residents have called for the national government and Isiolo County government to work together and purchase a school bus to make the lives of these girls bearable. This will also ensure they enjoy their right to education as enshrined in Article 43 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
