The Rwanda has made it know that they will offer free COVID-19 vaccination to all citizens when the country receives the vaccine in 2021. 

Daniel Ngamije, Health Minister, announced during an interview with public broadcaster Rwanda TV on December 11.

“We will start with health personnel because they are part of people at high risk of being infected, people with comorbidity as well as elderly 65 years and above. These are the groups that are priority for getting the vaccine at zero cost,” Ngamije said.

The Ministry of Health has laid plans to make sure it is ready to receive the vaccine when it is made available and the 1st batch of the vaccine could be arrive in March 2021 according to Ngamije.

The Minister predicts that there will be a good acceptance of the vaccination among citizens. Rwandan government is is mobilizing resources that will facilitate vaccination coverage for all with a goal of reaching 60 percent coverage.
