Sharing is Caring

The video clip that was shared on twitter spread everywhere like lethal gas before it was deleted. The clip was rebuked by Kenyans. Of course, that type of speech has no room in our country.

This are not the games the politicians should play, especially when the general election beckons.

It was a fake video showing how the deputy president was threatening the communities that are not part of Kalenjin in Uasin Gishu County. It was edited for the purpose of reversing what the Deputy President was communicating.

DP Ruto said the other communities in the country settled in Uasin Gishu, other than Kalenjins, are completely safe and there was nothing they should worry about.

The clip was inappropriate and aimed to take the country back to the dark days. Its purpose was to spread fear, hatred and tribalism.

Ruto later made a Petition with the National Cohesion and integration Commission (NCIC) over what he termed as hate speech, incitement and misinformation.

In a letter to the commission by UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina, the party accused Mr. Mohamed and Mr. Joho of circulating a choreographed version of a video clip through their official Twitter handles in a bid to cause, elicit and spread hate, incitement to violence, ethnic discrimination and disharmony.

“The video has also been intentionally edited with a deliberate aim and objective to cause ethnic hatred, fear and intolerance during this peak political season,” Ms Maina, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General.
