The football legend Pele has dismissed claims that is son is suffering from mental illness. This was after Pele’s son announced that he is depressed because he can’t walk unaided.

Pele’s son later sought a chance to clarify that his early comments were misquoted. He blamed translation for the miss up.  

“A word depression is an emotional state, it is not a clinical picture or a diagnosis that I made. It was simply a frustration,” he said.

Pele added that he believes that his mental state is normal for his age. Pele is considered to be one of the best soccer players the world has ever had. He participated and won 3 World Cups during his 20 years career.

Pele has always remained in the public limelight even after retiring but observers have reported that the most recent appearances have been on wheelchair.

Despite being on wheelchair, Pele has reported that for the last 12 months he has just been as busy as ever.

“Last week, I had the honor of meeting the CBF president in the studio where I was recording my documentary,” he added. “I had two photo sessions last month for campaigns that use my image and testimony.

Despite his advanced age, Pele still operates a very busy schedule. He attends meetings which keeps him very engaged.

It has been 50 years since Brazilian team won the World Cup 1970 and Pele was a member of that team which is considered to be the best of all time. Pele’s team of 1970 beat Italian team 4:1. The date was 21 June, 1970.
