7 Ways to Ensure Peaceful, free and fair Elections in Kenya

It has come to our attention that many people are moving from major towns to places they consider safer. It doesn’t have to be that way. We want to ensure there is peace after the elections in Kenya.
We have come up with a list of things that we can do as Kenyans to avoid Post Election Violence. Read the list below and take action:

  1. Preach peace and practice it

Everyone should preach peace. This should be done everywhere. At our churches, mosques, schools, villages, bars, kamukunjis, on internet and any other imaginable place. The social media gurus like @LarryMadowo @, @c_NyakundiH, @RobertAlai and @xtiandela, @koinangeJeff, @bonfacemwangi, @ItsMainaKageni, @kenyanpundit @bangito, @kachwanya @bankele and @johngithongo among others.

2. Develop a video game that educates the masses such as the the one below.

3. The political candidates should avoid the temptation to rigging elections.

I know there are some politicians whose fingers are itching to rig elections but this should stop immediately. Remember, you do not have to become a politician for you to serve your country. So winning is not a do or die.

4. Stop violence before the elections.

We have witnessed abductions, disappearances and murders of people in what is alleged to be related to elections. This should be avoided by all means.

5. Media personalities should pass a message of peace in their broadcasts on Television, radio and digital content.

You may be a sports broadcaster but you can urge your viewers, listeners and readers to observe peace during this election period. I challenge all bloggers to do a single blog article or video episode promoting during this elections time.

Check my video below. You can do the same.

6. Politicians should avoid hate speech by all means

All politicians and their supporters should carry out peaceful campaigns during the homestretch. I know we have agencies dealing with tracking hate speech but that is not enough. Let’s regulate ourselves.

7. Vote and then go home

After voting at your polling station, go straight home. Camping at or around those polling stations can build tense situation.

Thank you for reading this important postabout elections in Kenya. Take action today. Post a video on Twitter, Facebook, write a blog article or just hold a kamukunji with peace being the main theme. We look forward to hearing from you.
