Miroslav Klose has been appointed the first team assistant coach of Bayern Munich for next season.

Klose retired from football two years ago and has been a youth coach at the club after retiring as a player in 2016.

Klose joined Bayern Munich in 2007 and spent 4 seasons at the Bundesliga giants, winning league and cup honours.

Bayern Munich head Coach Hansi Flick, who signed a contract extension at the club a month ago, was the assistant coach of Germany when the team featuring Klose won the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

‘’This is the next step in my career as a coach, ‘’ Said Klose.

‘’We have known each other well [Flick] since our time in the national team and we trust each other both professionally and personally.’’ He added.

Klose made 137 appearances for the Germany national team between 2001 and 2014 and scored 71 times.

He scored 24 goals for Bayern Munich in 98 appearances.

Klose also played for Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Lazio.
