Middlesbrough have sacked Jonathan Woodgate and replaced him with Neil Warnock.

Middlesbrough sit 21st in the Championship table with 8 games remaining.

They are above relegation zone on goal difference.

Jonathan Woodgate was dismissed on Tuesday and former Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock appointed.

The clubs statement read: ‘’The club would like to place on record its thanks to Jonathan Woodgate for all his work in the role of head coach.’’

Jonathan Woodgate, who finished his playing career at Middlesbrough, took charge of the team June last 2019.

Warnock, 71, left Cardiff City in November, having led them to promotion to the Premier League in 2018 but failed to prevent them from being relegated back to Championship.

Warnock’s first game in charge of Boro will be away against Stoke City on Saturday.
