LinkedIn is an no-go zone in Russia

Recently, there tense standoffs were witnessed in Russia as Roskomnadzor (communication regulator in Russia) commenced the enforcement of its proposed block of LinkedIn in the country. This came about after LinkedIn failed to transfer the data of Russian users to servers located within the country.

This was a violation of a law that requires that all online platforms store all personal data in Russia.

LinkedIn is in the process of being acquired by Microsoft as a whopping $26.2 billion. On November 11 the LinkedIn team tried to reach out to the regulator to evade the ban. Internet service providers who fail to comply with the ban risk facing heavy fines.
