It is said that the power will increase up to 400 MW as time goes by. The transmission was set to start a few weeks after the agreement.

The project involves a 1,068km-long transmission line. The imported electricity will ensure that Kenyans acquire affordable energy and 18% of the power will be covered in rural areas.

The project will increase Ethiopia’s income. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is expected to reach up to 5000MW. Ethiopian officials say that they plan to export their power to entire African countries.

Ethiopia does not only depend on hydro, it sources of power includes; geothermal, wind and solar. It is said that when all these sources are combined, they can reach up to 60,000MW.
