Sharing is Caring

Corruption in Kenya’s public sector is known to be a cancer affecting development of the county.

Every year, Transparency International released their Corruption Perception Index to show the level of corruption around the world.

In the Corruption Perception Index 2021, Kenya scored 30 out of 100. This is a measure of how corrupt a country is. Zero means a country is highly corrupt while the least corrupt score 100. Therefore, the lower the score the worse is corruption in that country.

In terms of Corruption Perception Index 2021, Kenya had the same score as Laos, Togo and Paraguay. Kenya is the 128th most corrupt countries in the world out of the 180 countries and territories which were ranked by Transparency International.

Other East African countries which are neighbors to Kenya scored as follows on the Corruption Perception Index 2021: Uganda (27/100), Tanzania (39/100), Ethiopia (39/100), Rwanda (53/100), Burundi (19), South Sudan (11), Somalia (13/100) and DR Congo (19).

Therefore, in terms of the Corruption Perception Index 2021, the most corrupt country in Eastern Africa in South Sudan (11/100) and the least corrupt county is Rwanda (53/100).

Denmark, Finland and New Zealand are the least corrupt countries with a score of 88 out of 100 according to the Corruption Perception Index 2021
