Tottenham Hotspurs have appointed Jose Mourinho as Mauricio Pochettinho’s replacement.

Tottenham Hotspurs decided to make a change during the International break, with the club languishing in 14th position in the Premier League table.

‘’I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters,’’ Said Mourinho in a statement after being appointed manager up to the end of 2022-2023 season.

Jose Mourinho praised the quality of Tottenham Hotspurs players.

‘’The quality in both the squad and in the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.’’

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: “In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football. He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.’’

Jose Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United in 2018, but the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss is in London and will hope to salvage Tottenham’s season.

Jose Mourinho dubbed ‘The Special One’ has, of course, enjoyed trophy-laden spells elsewhere, winning the Champions League with both FC Porto and Inter Milan, and domestic titles in every single league he has managed in.

Despite, his trophy-laden managerial career, Jose Mourinho has been criticized of his style of play. He’ll have to prove that he is the right man for Tottenham Hotspurs especially after being sacked by Chelsea and Manchester United in the last four years.

Jose Mourinho’s first task will be guiding Tottenham against West Ham this Weekend in the Premier League.
