Reports are emerging on social media that John Pombe Magufuli is admitted at Nairobi Hospital receiving treatment after contracting coronavirus.
It can be remembered that he has been mocking countries such as Kenya for imposing lock-downs and travel restrictions for a non-existing Covid-19. Now he is fighting for his life in Nairobi.
For the last two weeks, the President of Tanzania has not made public appearances.
Daily Nation’s Washington Gikunju and Aggrey Mutambo wrote an article full of parables titled: “African leader taken ill, admitted to city hospital.” They were not brave enough to mention the name for fear of repercussions.
If true that Magufuli is in Nairobi Hospital, I hope this resonates with Tanzanians: The man who sold you denialism and quackery, and risked the lives of ordinary Tanzanians and his colleagues, scurried to the best private hospital he could find when Covid-19 felled him.

Our media houses should be more brave and speak only the truth without fear of favor.
Daily Nation in VOLUNTARY SELF CENSORSHIP…Can't name President Magufuli of TZ as the President being treated for Covid-19 at Nairobi Hospital… pic.twitter.com/12PjODq6zP

IF it's true Covid denier Magufuli is in Nairobi Hospital with related complications, the inequity of it would be endless. He gets to fly to a Nairobi hospital, while those who listened to him stay home inhaling eucalyptus steam & hanging on to prayers. Still, wish him recovery. https://t.co/0YoohaX6JB

Nairobi Hospital, Kenya has treated, hosted many South Sudanese dignitaries, Tanzania, Uganda et al, it’s a kind reminder to the EAC that if you don’t take care of your healthcare system, it wouldn’t be there to take care of you.

Make things right at home.
“It’s a sad comment on his stewardship of our country that it’s come to this: that he himself had get COVID-19 and be flown out to Kenya in order to prove that prayers, steam inhalations and other unproven herbal concoctions he’s championed are no protection against coronavirus!,” tweeted Tanzania’s opposition leader Tundu Lissu.
