Tottenham have signed former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old was a free agent after his contract at Burnley expired.

Hart was a second choice goalkeeper at the Turf Moor Stadium as manager Sean Dyche preferred Nick Pope to start in between the sticks. Hart did not play a Premier League game in 2019-20 season.

“Firstly, I just want to say thank you to the Club for seeing something in me,” Hart told tottenhamhotspur.com.

“No getting away from it, it’s been a difficult couple of years for me personally on the football field, but I feel I’ve got so much to give, I feel like I’ve got a lot of quality, a lot in the bank, but not much game time recently.

“I can only look at things positively. I’m ready to go. I feel like I’m starting again, and I quite enjoy that feeling. My body is certainly ready for me to start again. I’m ready to push and ready to get back to levels. I love the idea of European football, two games a week… it all excites me.”

Hart spent 12 years at City, winning 2 Premier League titles. He was sent out on loan at West Ham and Torino after Pep Guardiola’s arrival at City.

Hart made 75 appearances for England but has not played for his country since 2017.

The arrival of Hart at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium comes few days after the club completed the signing of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.

Spurs confirmed earlier this week that midfielder Oliver Skipp has joined Norwich City on a season-long loan.
