Sharing is Caring

Ghana’s industry minister Carlos Ahenkorah has been forced to resign after he broke coronavirus self-isolation restrictions after he tested positive for the virus.

Mr Ahenkorah, who is also a Member of Parliament and the deputy minister for trade, visited a voter registration centre in his constituency before completing his self-isolation period.

The registration centre was in the city of Tema, East of Accra.

Mr Ahenkorah however says that he adhered to social-distancing rules and added that he was asymptomatic.

A section of Ghanaians want the minister to be prosecuted for breaching safety guidelines and putting the lives of people in danger.

More than 18,000 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the West African country, with the virus claiming 100 lives.

Cases have increased after virus restrictions were relaxed last week.

Ghana is compiling a new electoral roll as they prepare for elections in December.
