Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 will not restart after France banned all sporting events until September.

France Prime Minister Edouard Philippe confirmed that the 2019/2020 campaign was over and also announced that plans were underway to ease France’s Covid – 19 lockdown on 11th May.

All football activities had been suspended indefinitely in France since 13th March.

Ligue de Football Professional (LFP) was hoping to restart the season on June 17th and finish it on July 25th.

It remains unclear whether the French football’s governing body will choose to abandon the campaign with no relegation or promotion and no winners or base the outcome using the current league standings.

Paris Saint-Germain are on top of the table with 68 points, 12 ahead of second-placed Olympique  Marseille. Toulouse are placed bottom, 17 points from safety.

The Dutch League was abandoned last week on Friday with no promotion or relegation and no winners, while on Monday Belgian clubs postponed a vote on confirming the cancelation of their top flight until next week.
