Sharing is Caring

Local authorities in Florida has been forced to pump 1.5 billion liters of untreated waste water from a former mine into the nearby water ways following concerns that it may burst.

If it bursts, Tampa Bay area will be the most affected.

Models indicated that is the wall bursts, a 20-foot of untreated waste water would engulf an area of 19 square km.

A mandatory evacuation was issued for that area. A leak was reported on the 9-acre waste water reservoir a week ago. Efforts to plug the leakage failed and residents were told than in less than 1 hour the collapse would happen.

The Florida National Guard was helping pump 124 million liters per minute out of the reservoir and into the surrounding water ways.
