Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz died on Saturday after being hospitalized with Covid- 19.

The 76-year old was Real Madrid president between 1995 and 2000, a period which the Real won the prestigious UEFA Champions League twice.
Sanz’s son Lorenzo confirmed his father’s demise on twitter. ‘’My father just died, He did not deserve this end in this manner. One of the best, most courageous and hardworking people I have seen in my life. His family and Real Madrid were his passion.’’

Sanz is remembered at Madrid for having signed top players such as Clarence Seerdorf, Roberto Carlos and Davor Suker during his era.

Real issued a statement on their official website:’’ Real Madrid, its president and the board of directors regret with great consternation the death of Lorenzo Sanz, who was president of Real Madrid between 1995 to 2000.

‘’They also want to express their deepest condolences and all their affection and affection to his wife Mari Luz, their children Lorenzo, Francisco, Fernando, Maria Luz and Diana, and their family and friends. Condolences that also extend to all Real Madrid players.’’
