Evans Monari, one of the lawyers who presented President Uhuru Kenyatta at the International Criminal Court (ICC) dies at Nairobi Hospital after a long illness. His death was announced by Ken Monari, a family spokesperson. 

 

Evans Monari was an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Partner in Coulson Harney LLP, Advocates where he was the Head of Dispute Resolution and Arbitration.

 

Evans Monari also represented Police Commissioner Hussein Ali at the ICC following the 2007-2008 post election violence. 

 

Monari also handled complex criminal cases during his career. 

 

“Evans Monari and I shared a tiny office when I started working, the start of our friendship. When, as a young lawyer, I wrote my first newspaper column, a senior judge wanted to discuss it. Unannounced, Evans brought him to our little room, an act of mentorship for me. RIP bro,” wrote George Kegoro on Twitter. 

 

“Evans Monari, you guided me on ICC and international criminal issues at a time when we needed it most. Down to earth, friendly and approachable. May ourl Lord God rest your soul in peace,” Bernard Namunane said.
