The satellite is estimated to have cost $8 million out of which China paid $6 million. The satellite will be controlled from Entoto Observatory and Space Science Research Center in Ethiopia. Other African countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and Morocco have satellites orbiting around the earth. .
