Sharing is Caring

For the past one week I have been reading Thomas Pagge’s master piece book “Freedom from Poverty as a Human Right: Who owes what to the very Poor?”

A number of issues stood out for me as quoted below. The following fundamental freedoms are often violated:

  1. Freedom of speech and expression

  2. Freedom of every person to worship God in his own way

  3. Freedom from want

  4. Freedom from fear- no nation should be in a position to commit an act of physical aggregation against any neighbor.

Most nations around the globe currently live in fear of being attacked by terror groups and in some cases by own government armed forces. It is a global problem. In Nigeria, citizens fear that Boko Haram may come knocking. In Kenya, the Alshabaab is a constant fear. In Uganda, Rwanda and Congo they fear that Joseph Kony may be on his way to unleash terror on innocent villagers.

In other parts of the world there is: Irish Republican Army, FARC, ISIS, Hezbollah and Lashkar-e-Toiba among many others.

When will terrorism come to an end? Is there a way to out wit terror master-minds? It is a nightmare when mankind lives in constant fear.

In countries where there is fear, it is possible for all rights to be violated or crashed in the name of “security.” Insecurity leads to poverty, job loss, increase in taxes (to fund the fight against terror), increased funeral expenses, theft, shooting food prices ans wage reduction among other undesirable events.

Let’s all say no to violent extremism and terrorism!!! This is a great cause of poverty. Kindly, share your views about this article in the comments and follow us on twitter. @kerosiT
