Sharing is Caring

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology will be holding a virtual graduation.

The event is scheduled for 8th May and 1,777 students will be conferred with degrees in various fields.

It will be the institution’s 9th graduation ceremony.

There will be no parties after the graduation. The names of the graduands will be read and credentials conferred online in a ceremony with not more than 15 persons.

The University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Ndirangu Kioni said they decided to hold the graduation after many requests by students from the University.

”The students requested for the graduation because they wanted their certificates so that they can move on with their lives,” the Vice Chancellor was quoted by Daily Nation.

‘’The University senate resolved to hold a virtual graduation in keeping with our student-centric approach. It was to ensure we keep our promise to students and graduands of DeKUT of timely completion of studies.’’ He added.

The ceremony will be brief. Those expected to attend include the chancellor, the vice-chancellor and members of the university senate. The 15 will be spread out in the main hall. The deans will read the names of the graduands from their offices.
