Werder Bremen have placed on of their players in a 14-days quarantine a day before the Bundesliga resumes.

Werder have not named the player and explained that the player did not test positive but a member of his ‘’personal circle’’ had contracted Covid-19.

Werder issued a statement: ‘’A member of the SV Werder Bremen first team has been placed under a two-week quarantine after a member of his personal circle tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week.

‘’Although the player himself tested negative during all previous rounds of testing, the decision to place him under quarantine was made in conjunction with the Bremen health authorities.

‘’The player has since tested negative on two occasions.’’

The German Bundesliga is due to be the first major European League to resume since being halted due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Bremen sit 17th in the Bundesliga table and are set to play Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.
